Your scooter is showing an error code—don’t panic
Hello guys, it’s me Marco! Electric scooters are clever little machines, but they communicate like mysterious robots: a beep, a flashing number and absolutely no useful sentence explaining what happened. This guide helps you understand the warning, make safe checks and know when the scooter needs a professional diagnosis.
First rule: an error code is a clue, not a complete diagnosis. The same code can have different meanings on different model years, displays and controllers. Always confirm the exact scooter model and manual before buying parts.
⚠ Before you start
Stop riding immediately if you notice smoke, a burning smell, battery swelling, excessive heat, sparks, melted connectors, sudden braking faults, a damaged charge port, water inside the display or battery compartment, or repeated cut-outs under load.
- Switch the scooter off and disconnect the charger.
- Do not open a lithium battery, bridge wires, bypass a fuse or probe high-current terminals.
- Do not charge a wet, swollen, damaged or unusually hot battery.
- If smoke is coming out, the error code is no longer the main problem.
When in doubt, keep it switched off and contact a qualified repair centre.
How electric-scooter fault codes work
A dashboard warning can be triggered by a failed component, loose plug, damaged wire, water ingress, incorrect voltage, sensor fault, controller temperature, battery protection, brake-lever activation, firmware mismatch or a communication problem. The screen reports what the system can see—not necessarily the original cause.
What a code can tell you
Which circuit stopped reporting normally: throttle, brake, motor Hall sensors, controller, battery or display communication.
What it cannot tell you
Whether the component itself failed, a cable broke, a connector loosened or water damaged another part upstream.
That is why proper diagnosis combines the code with a visual inspection, connector checks and electrical testing. A €10 cable can sometimes cause a €500 level of panic.
Xiaomi error codes
Xiaomi codes vary across the M365, Essential, 1S, Pro, Pro 2, Mi 3, Scooter 4 and later generations. The table below combines codes documented by Xiaomi for supported generations. If your exact manual disagrees, follow the manual for your model.

Most common Xiaomi problems
- Dashboard cable damage where the stem folds or enters the deck.
- Brake sensor or throttle damage after a fall.
- Water inside the dashboard or connectors.
- Motor cable damage close to the axle.
- Burnt controller terminals or battery/BMS communication faults.
- Incorrect or incompatible custom firmware. Turning it off and back on is worth trying—but it is not a magic spell.
KuKirin error codes: identify the display first
KuKirin G2, G2 Pro, G2 Max, G2 Master, G3, G3 Pro, G4 and G4 Max platforms do not share one universal public error-code list. Codes can change with the display, model year, single/dual-motor controller and factory firmware.
Important
Do not apply a KuKirin code from another model just because the screen looks similar. Where the exact manual does not confirm a code, treat it as model-specific or unconfirmed—professional diagnosis recommended.

Dualtron, Minimotors EY3 and EY4 faults
Dualtron uses several generations of EY3, EY4, EYE and app-connected systems. A warning shown on one display generation must not automatically be assigned the meaning used by another. Record the exact scooter, display, firmware/app version and what happened immediately before the fault.
Brake symbol stays on
Check that each brake lever returns fully. A brake cut-off sensor or cable fault can prevent drive. Do not ride if braking or motor cut-off is unreliable.
Motor or controller fault
Stop if the wheel judders, locks, makes a harsh electrical noise or the controller becomes very hot. Hall, phase-wire and controller tests are required.
Battery or voltage warning
Voltage sag under load can come from charge level, cell health, BMS protection or high-resistance connectors. Never open the battery.
EY4/app communication
Check the exact display generation, connector and authorised app/firmware. Incompatible parts can look correct while communicating differently.
If an EY3/EY4 code is not printed in the manual for that exact model and display, it is model-specific or unconfirmed—professional diagnosis recommended. Do not attack the controller with a screwdriver and confidence.
Teverun error codes
Teverun codes also vary. The Fighter Mini/GT manual and Blade Mini manual use different lists, so the platform column matters.

Segway and Ninebot error codes
Segway–Ninebot codes vary by generation, so use the manual for the exact E, F, MAX, P or GT model. The following codes are documented for the Ninebot E2 family and are useful starting points—not a universal list for every Segway scooter.

NAMI electric scooter error codes
NAMI dashboards use separated front/rear motor and controller channels on supported models such as the Klima. That is helpful because the code points to a side of the scooter—but it still does not prove which component failed.

Rovoron electric scooter errors
Rovoron models span different Minimotors display and controller generations. The R5, R5 Pro, R7, S7, Kullter and older platforms must be identified before interpreting a warning. If the exact Rovoron manual does not publish the code, do not borrow a meaning from a different EY display.
Brake symbol or no drive
Confirm both brake levers return fully. A brake cut-off signal can stop drive even when the mechanical brake feels normal.
Motor / Hall warning
Stop if a wheel judders, locks or makes an electrical growl. Inspect the external axle cable; motor, Hall and controller testing is next.
Voltage / battery warning
Record the displayed voltage and when it drops. Do not open the pack or charge it if it is hot, swollen, wet or smells unusual.
EY display communication
Photograph the code, display and scooter label. Display, firmware and controller compatibility matter more than whether the plugs look alike.
Rovoron rule: an unlisted code is model-specific or unconfirmed—professional diagnosis is safer than swapping expensive parts.
Kuickwheel electric scooter error codes
Kuickwheel’s official support information lists several dashboard codes, but meanings and repair routes can still vary by Model A, Model B, S1-C and GS1 generations.

Pure Electric’s official support guidance is model-aware. These are documented examples; always select the exact Pure Air, Advance or Escape generation before following a repair route.

One code, many scooters
E1 does not mean the same thing everywhere. On one platform it can indicate a brake circuit; on another it can indicate a motor phase. Always send Lifty Labs a photo of the display, the model label and the fault behaviour. The number is the clue; the scooter model is the dictionary.

Brands without one universal public list
KuKirin, Dualtron, Rovoron and some Teverun generations use different dashboards, controllers and firmware. Their article sections above include the model-specific codes that could be confirmed and symptom-led workshop routes where a universal manufacturer list is not published. A short list does not mean the scooter has only two possible faults—it means only those codes are documented for that exact platform.
Safe troubleshooting: the Marco method
- Stop and observe. Note the code, beeps, heat, smells, noises and whether the fault appears under acceleration or braking.
- Photograph the display. Capture the scooter model label and display type too.
- Switch off and disconnect the charger. Wait several minutes. A restart can clear a temporary communication fault, but repeated errors need diagnosis.
- Inspect only accessible parts. Look for cut cables, trapped wires, water, loose external plugs, damaged levers and a throttle that does not return.
- Check recent changes. A new display, controller, firmware, tyre repair or fall is valuable diagnostic information.
- Do not bypass protection. Never bridge battery wires, bypass brake cut-offs or fit an unverified controller.
- Book diagnosis if the code returns. Sometimes the scooter is not broken—it is simply having a dramatic day. Repeated drama still needs testing.
Can I still ride it?
No if the error affects braking, throttle, motor phase/Hall sensors, controller power electronics, battery/BMS, temperature, charging, repeated cut-outs or damaged wiring. A communication warning that clears once may still need monitoring, but never continue if control, heat or battery safety is in doubt.
Frequently asked questions
Will restarting the scooter fix an error code?
It can clear a temporary communication glitch. If the code returns, investigate the cause rather than repeatedly resetting it.
Can I replace the part named by the code?
Not safely based on the code alone. Wiring, connectors, firmware and another component can trigger the same warning.
Why did the error start after rain?
Moisture can affect the display, connectors, sensors or controller. Switch off, avoid charging and arrange inspection—do not use heat guns or pressure air on the battery.
Why does the code appear only uphill?
Higher load can expose voltage sag, poor connections, motor faults or controller overheating. Stop riding until the electrical system is tested.
What information should I send Lifty Labs?
The exact brand/model, a photo or video of the code, when it occurs, recent repairs or falls, charger behaviour and any heat, smell or unusual sound.
